ORTHOPEDICS

Orthopedics,  like many specialties,  has developed through a necessity.   A necessity to correct deformity,  restore function and alleviate pain.   Orthopedic surgeons have developed an ability to prevent major losses of bodily function and indeed they can prevent otherwise inevitable death.   They seek perfection of their art, by ensuring that the patient reaches optimal condition in the shortest period of time by the safest possible method.

The path to being an Orthopedic surgeon is not an easy one.   You have to have a boundless amout of knowledge which comes from four years of college,  four years of medical school,  five years of  residency,  and an optional one year of fellowship.   Atleast thirteen years of your life after high school is spent learning,  studying,  and testing.
Skills and abilities keep getting refined on the way to becoming an Orthopedic surgeon.    After graduating medical school, you will not make tons of money,  but you will owe tons of it.   Medical school is very expensive, with the average graduate owing between 100,000-200,000 dollars.   Residency occurs after you graduate and you will not be making a lot of  money yet,  it is still the beginning of your career.

Orthopedic surgeons are a highly respected specialty in the medical community.   They make lives better for patients and their families.   Being an Orthopedic surgeon is a very prestigious title.   With that comes a very nice salary of atleast 250,000 dollars,  not to mention benefits.   Like most successful careers,  you have to dedicate your time and effort before you can be successful.   Think of all that time and effort spent learning, studying,  and testing as an investment.   Depending on whether or not you work for a hospital determines your work hours,  so it can be hectic or relaxing.   The outlook for this career is good,  so it won't be hard finding and keeping a job.   As you progress in your career,  there is much opportunity.

Orthopedics is a career field that I might strongly consider pursuing.   I do not consider having a family soon,  which means I can dedicate most my time in studying Orthopedics.  But later on,  when I do decide to have one, I do not think my career will get in the way.  Since it has a good job outlook,  I feel a sense of security.   Also,  I can see myself  having a career in Orthopedics for a very long time.   As for stress,  I can imagine it getting the best of me some days.   But to achieve success,  I must overlook that and just go on.   If  I do become an Orthopedic surgeon,  I hope that I will become a better person by helping mankind.

You or someone you know has something to do with Orthopedics, whether they may be a patient or a practicioner.   Orthopedics treats everything from minor pains to major surgeries,  from children to professional athletes and seniors.   Throughout history, practictioners have studied and experimented with different ideas, resulting in the technology we have today.  Orthopedics is necessary in the world for a better way of life.
